Fall Semester: Week 1 & 2

Students arrived in Amberg on Saturday, September 6, 2008. AmBEx's Orientation week followed a rather busy weekend of settling in, meeting and greeting the AmBEx staff, Frei Christliche Gemeinde Church members, and an outing to a traditional Bavarian Volkfest/Kirwa on Sunday afternoon. Orientation consisted of Amberg city tours (practical and historical) as well as numerous outings to local landmarks, invitiations to local church members' and missionaries' homes, and a softball game with a German Youth League. Academically the students readied for classes including Christian Worldview, Geography (People and Places of Germany), and German Language Aquisition. Friday, students ventured on the first of their weekly Field Trips to Nuernberg, where guest professor, Dr. Tim Anderson from Corban College, arrived in time to join them on the city tour. The following Sunday students had the chance to particpate in an American-military church service with High Point Baptist Church in Vilseck, a town not far from Amberg. A welcome luncheon following the service offered students numerous opportunities to meet local ambassador's for Christ who graciously offered them the opportunity to participate in their ministries. September 15 marked the beginning of the full academic week in which students attend class sessions Monday through Friday morning. This coming weekend, students will begin their first Academic Tour to Vienna accompanied by Dr. Tim Anderson, as he contrast secular and Christian worldviews.

We extend a warm welcome to the Fall 2008 co-hort, as well as guest professor Dr. Tim Anderson.
